I remember the old Dairy Queen in Creswell; it was a long-standing icon of childhood. We used to get the tallest pieces of strawberry pie there in June and July. I loved their jello salad, which had fresh fruit and cream cheese between layers of the wiggly red stuff. Sadly, it is no more, but the Hansen sisters have done their best to keep the homey and deliciousness that was the DQ. The drive-thru, always awkward, is still there, and you have to drive in a tight circle in the front parking lot to get to it. The service is friendly and welcoming, but not always fast; Home cooking takes time! The one thing I was disappointed to see was that the restaurant is only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday, and breakfast and lunch everyday. Summer hours are extended, but when I want a treat, my taste buds do not know how to read a calendar. Stay open, ladies!
